The Municipal Finance Authority of BC (MFA) has a long history of supporting our clients and local government partners through conference and event sponsorship. MFA also provides educational opportunities for both elected officials and local government employees.
This year has been no exception as the MFA continues to be very active with participation and the provision of financial support for conferences and chapter meetings. MFA has contributed to the annual conferences of GFOABC, UBCM and LGMA a total of $40,000. Assorted Local Government Management Chapters and UBCM Area Associations have totalled $24,000 year to date. The GFOA's Bootcamp received $3,000 towards its 2014 session.
In addition to presenting to the Capilano University’s PADM 202 Municipal Finance, the MFA is sponsoring the development and delivery of the CAO Essentails Course and has contributed $6,000 of a $12,000 committment. This course will aide new and aspiring CAO's be prepared for and successful in their new role.
We have agreed to sponsor $7,000 to the University of Northern British Columbia for their new Project Management Essentials for Local Government on-line course. This course will address a pressing need for training local government managers to properly manage projects with effectiveness and efficiency. The course is inteneded to provide foundational knowledge and practical tools to manage projects successfully and cost effectively.
MFA contributed $30,000 to the Local Government Leadership Academy for our first year of an additional three year commitment.Total now contributed has reached $120,000.
