Position Summary:
Reporting to the Controller, the Treasury Payments Specialist is responsible for the smooth flow of cash transactions to and from the MFA on a daily basis. Supporting the MFA team, the role provides assistance with a variety of payment, cash management and treasury tasks.
In this role, the Treasury Payments Specialist is responsible for:
  • Managing and monitoring daily and monthly banking cash management transactions, ensuring all investment, commercial paper, debt, and loan transactions are reconciled and supporting documentation is in place
  • Ensuring bank accounts are operating within agreed upon limit requirements
  • Monitoring current and future cash positions in anticipation of short-term borrowing needs and long-term cash requirements
  • Executing wire transfers, bank transfers and other funding necessary to balance daily cash position
  • Facilitating all cash funding on short-term and long-term client loans
  • Processing all short-term and long-term client billings
  • Issuing all payments related to surplus or the Debt Reserve Fund
  • Processing tax submissions
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records by regularly completing invoice data entry, credit card reconciliations, and expense claim reviews, and ensuring all related payments are made
  • Assisting in completion of tasks when the Controller is absent to support the fluidity of the team in alignment with organizational competencies.
Required attributes, skills & experience:
  • Minimum of three years’ experience or demonstrated expertise in accounting and/or finance
  • Previous experience working in a bank or asset management back office is an asset
  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation or working towards one would be beneficial
  • Diploma or degree in business, accounting, finance, or similar fields is not required, but preferred
  • Experience in corporate banking with an understanding of EFT/wire processes
  • Principles and practices of financial management, accounting, and internal control
  • Experience with banking and cash transaction procedures in accordance with the Canadian Payments Association
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Additional Information:

​This will be a full-time, on-site position that operates on a Monday-Friday schedule. MFA provides employees with the opportunity to work from home on Fridays.
